“Out of excuses” – Yankees legend Derek Jeter makes Twitter and Instagram debut after years of resisting

Derek Jeter
New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter announced his debut on social media by creating a Twitter and Instagram account on Tuesday morning. Its been three months since Jeter has stepped down from the position as the CEO of the Miami Marlins and has finally grown an interest in the social media world after years of resisting it.
Just after a few hours of Derek Jeter’s social media debut he immediately snatched away 100,000 followers on both social media sites. The former Yankees captain noted in his online bio, “Sleep-deprived father to three amazing girls. HOF Class of 2020.” Unlike other celebrities, Jeter managed to avoid the social network, but everything took a 180° turn on Tuesday morning.
Derek Jeter joins the social platforms – Twitter and Instagram

After creating his Twitter account, Derek Jeter replied to a December 2014 comment used by the name of Jeffrey Guilty who has less than 250 followers. Eight years ago Jeffrey Guilty commented that Jeter should step foot on Twitter, “ Derek Jeter has no excuse not to have a Twitter account by now”.
As penned on nypost.com, Jeter tweeted, “Looks like I’ve officially run out of excuses.” He further went on to respond to a tweet from The Players’ Tribune, the social platform that he founded, where a young Jeter’s photo was posted with seemingly long hair, with a caption, “mullet or tree?”
Jeter replied, “It’s my hair but it’s a shag… a Ralph Tresvant shag,” and quoted his online bio, “sleep-deprived father to three amazing girls.” His old teammates warmly welcomed their old captain, Jeter to the social platform. Former Yankee pitcher C.C.Sabathia tweeted, “I see you, bro”. Alex Rodriguez also didn’t miss the chance to give a shout-out.
A while ago, Derek Jeter posted his first reaction video to fans tweeting about him. Seems Jeter has much catch-up to do with his fans. He also called up actor Mark Wahlberg commenting, “Let me know if you need an extra in the next movie.” Jeter humorously wrote about his social media joining, “Take it easy on me,” Jeter said. “I’m new to this.”
