Another day, another loss for the NY Yankees. It seems it has become a period of cycle for the Yankees to lose games that they are comfortably winning. Having lost the first game of the series after the ASG break, the Yanks dropped the series as they blew away their lead twice in the game. Alan Trejo was the hero for the Colorado Rockies as he hit a walk-off home run.
While the Yankees have been disappointing this season, this defeat is now being considered the worst of them all. The NY side was leading the game 3-1 when CJ Cron managed to hit a grand slam to give the hosts the lead in the eighth inning. The Rockies thought this could do it for them but the Yankees showed some fightback and levelled the game in the ninth inning.
With the scores level, the match went into extra innings. In the top of the eleventh, the Yanks managed to pull clear and scored two runs to take a two-run lead again. This time it was the Rockies who made the comeback. The Rockies were levelled at 7-7 when Trejo walked up to the plate. Nolan Jones had tied the game with a two-run blast off Nick Ramirez. The Yankees announcer went on to state how Trejo had not managed to pull out a home run.
Unfortunately for the Yankees, he had to change his sentence mid-way as Trejo smashed the ball high up in the air. This was his first home run of the season and what a time to get. His solo shot helped the Rockies bounce upon the Yankees and pick up an important series win.

Something is going seriously wrong for the New York Yankees. No matter how hard they try or do, they somehow find a way to lose in an extraordinary fashion. This latest defeat against the Rockies condemns them to the last place in American League East standings. One thing that is surprising the fans is that they are 50-44, a slightly better record than last year.
In 2022, the Yankees were dominating the league phase. After a bright start to the season, they fell off in the middle and toward the end of the season. This year the competition in AL East has risen with the emergence of the Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles. MLB fans would once again slam the team and here are a few reactions regarding this.
The Yankees will now need to regroup once again and come together. Their next challenge is in the form of LA Angels, another team that has been falling apart. Both these teams will need to start packing some serious punches soon if they were to remain active in the postseason race.
