“Something I’ve been battling with”- Yordan Alvarez dropped from team line-up against Orioles
Yordan Alvarez
According to manager Dusty Baker, Yordan Alvarez was not included in the starting lineup for the Astros’ game against the Orioles on Sunday after receiving treatment for a sore left hand. Yordan Alvarez acknowledged that he had been “battling” hand stiffness over the past few weeks after Saturday night’s game. He spent the week of July 10–21 on the disabled list due to right hand irritation.
Baker said on Sunday that Alvarez’s current hand ailment, which the manager implied resulted from Alvarez favouring his already injured right hand, is with his left hand. Asked to clarify whether Yordan Alvarez’s right hand has improved, Baker said, “You keep asking this question. I keep telling you that when you hurt something, baseball is a daily game.”
“You really don’t have time to heal 100 percent until the wintertime.” Alvarez’s status on the injured list has not been discussed, according to Baker of the Astros. Baker stated that he hoped to have Alvarez available for the Astros’ Monday offday against the Rangers in Arlington.

Yordan Alvarez not yet added to the injured list
While David Hensley, a rookie, is the designated hitter and is batting seventh, Trey Mancini is playing left field and is now batting fifth. Due to Alvarez’s absence, third baseman Alex Bregman now bats in the third spot, with Kyle Tucker coming up to bat in the fourth spot. Alvarez missed some time in July due to soreness in his right hand.
Alvarez’s addition to the injured list has not been addressed, according to both he and manager Dusty Baker. The feeling, according to Alvarez, who is hitting.294 with 30 home runs and 80 RBI, was more irritation than pain. Although Alvarez claimed that the hand problem is not an excuse, his numbers have decreased over the past month.
Although Alvarez, 25, was placed on the injured list prior to the All-Star break due to a right hand ailment, his other hand is also posing problems. After taking Monday off, manager Dusty Baker anticipates that All-Star slugger Alvarez will start against the Rangers on Tuesday. However, it’s uncertain whether Alvarez will be able to quickly regain the form he showed in the first half. Alvarez has only registered four extra-base hits and is hitting just.234 since the beginning of August.
