“Most complete hitter in the game”: Yordan Alvarez hammers down a Six-year-deal with Houston Astros

Yordan Alvarez
In August 2016, Houston Astros signed the foundation-less Minor League pinch hitter Yordan Alvarez over their relief pitcher Josh Fields. When Josh Fields was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers it was said to be an insignificant deal but Yordan Alvarez proved it to be one of the hottest deals pulled in by the Houston Astros.
The Cuban defector, Yordan Alvarez did not find any professional game to play in the United States when he was obtained. When he joined the Houston Astros, he thrived, winning the American League Rookie of the year award in 2019. He has proved himself to be a budding star and is quite in the race for the American League Most Valuable Player of the year.
These achievements that he has had with Houston Astros are the reason behind the franchise wanting him to dawn their jersey for many more seasons to come. The 24-year-old now has to prove his worth as expectations increase with the size of the deal.

Houston’s General Manager had a few words for his player, James Click said, “Yordan is one of the most complete hitters in the game of baseball, his combination of plate discipline, approach, power to all fields and the ability to hit any pitch that is thrown to him make him an elite hitter at the plate. Early in his career, many talked about him as a designated hitter. But through his hard work and dedication, he has turned himself into a quality player in left field. Combined with his hitting, this makes him quite simply one of the best players in the game right now.”
