One thing apart from the Ohtani deal is that he will not have any deferrals in this payment. While the American League MVP has deferred $680 million of his salary until the end of his contract, there is no such agreement as of yet in the Yamamoto deal.

Yamamoto now joins the LA Dodgers pitching rotation along with Tyler Glasnow, who joined the team through a trade from the Tampa Bay Rays. This signings have made the Dodgers early favorites for the 2024 season.
