The pitcher has taken Nippon Professional Baseball by storm and is on the way to joining the MLB through free agency. For his stellar performances this season, he was named the MVP of the league’s third year running, thus tying a Japanese league record with greats Ichiro Suzuki and Hisashi Yamada. He also played a crucial part in Japan’s success at the WBC and proudly showed off his winner’s ring.
