“Balls are low”: Aaron Boone expressing his annoyance upon the empty-headed calls made by umpires
Aaron Boone angry
Aaron Boone, the New York Yankees manager, does give his team and his fans a little something to enjoy whenever the umpires annoy him. Boone cannot keep his head down when he sees the umpires making wide of the mark calls. The team knows, come what may, Aaron Boone, will always have their back.
On Friday, Aaron Boone was ejected in the ninth inning against the Boston Red Sox. The New York Yankees lost the encounter. He was all in the zone, arguing balls and strikes that began with a low strike call to Aaron Judge that resulted in a strikeout in the bottom of the eighth. Boone was furious.
“Judge, Rizzo, Carpenter, balls are low. I get asked a lot.” Aaron Boone explained, “I don’t know. I don’t know. I talk to people; they’re doing the best they can. I don’t know.”
Even Aaron Judge indicated that the umpires need to focus on their calls, “It’s gonna be him [Aaron Boone] or it’s gonna be me,” Judgesaid. “I appreciate him standing up for us and speaking our mind, how we’re all feeling. He’s done that quite a bit for us over his career with us.”

Aaron Boone is leading the Major League in ejections as his player Aaron Judge leads in HRs
Aaron Boone said after the game that the team has contacted the major league committee especially about Aaron Judge, and indeed he has had more strike calls below the zone than any other player in the league since 2017, but doesn’t know what else they could do beyond that at this point.
Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees know that their manager will be there to argue for them, with that knowledge, Judge kept his calm after striking out. Boone’s frustration can be seen in his words, “What can we tell him? I get asked it a lot, [The umpires are] doing the best they can. I don’t know.”
“You gotta be mentally tough enough to move past that and stick to your approach,” said Aaron Judge, who went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts Friday. “That’s why I try not to really blow up on an umpire. I say my words, say my piece, but I still got a job to do. I still have a couple at-bats the rest of the night.”
