“If it was a real beef, it would get handled”- AJ McKee shares his thought on the recent scuffle with Nate Diaz
AJ McKee and Nate Diaz
Nate Diaz and his crew getting into scuffles is nothing new to the world of fighting. This time Anthony Taylor and AJ McKee were at the receiving end.
UFC superstar Nate Diaz’s protege Chris Avilla took on boxer Anthony Taylor at the undercard of the Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley II. The fight took place on December 18th at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. During the weigh-ins at the venue, the Stockton crew ganged up on Avilla’s opponent and made things physical as water bottles and hands were being thrown.
Both Chris and Anthony’s sides did not back down from an altercation. While Avilla had the UFC welterweight superstar, Taylor had Bellator’s #1 pound-for-pound fighter and current featherweight champion AJ McKee backing him in the scuffle.
“If we’ve got an issue, let’s go backyard”– AJ McKee calls upon Nate Diaz to settle their dispute
McKee is supposed to take on Patricio Pitbull at the main event of Bellator 277, and he was asked to comment on the incident during a recent interview. He said he doesn’t exactly hold a grudge against Diaz, but he wouldn’t certainly take the fight to him if they try to gang up on his boy.
“I wouldn’t call it beef,” McKee said. “Anthony ‘Pretty Boy’ is not to be touched in my presence, period. Out of respect for me or whoever the hell you want to put respect on it for, he’s not to be touched in my presence. I’m not too fond of Chris or Nate, I don’t like bullies. So ya’ll try to walk around and bully Anthony, that’s not going to fly with me. So every encounter we have, it’s been a little touchy. I wouldn’t call it a beef cause if it was a real beef, it would get handled.” (H/T MMAFighting.com)
“I had a previous issue with one of his boys a couple of years back and just O.G. style, I sent Nate a text like ‘what’s good?’” McKee explained. “I know your boy is UFC, I’m Bellator, bro, we’ve been in the game before that. If we’ve got an issue, let’s go backyard style like how we originated and get down, bro. Of course, no response. Some people just ain’t cut from that cloth like that.” (H/T MMAFighting.com)
