The undefeated boxing multiple division champion, Claressa Shields successfully made her MMA debut against Brittney Elkins on PFL 4 this year in June 2021. Shields secured a third-round TKO win in this fight and now he is looking forward to growing her MMA career and facing some of the biggest names in the MMA world.

Claressa Shields is in starting stage of her MMA career but she aspires to face some of the G.O.A.T of women’s MMA such as Amanda Nunes, Kayla Harrison, and others. Nunes is a two-division UFC champion and she is no doubt one of the greatest women mixed martial of the current time.

In her latest interview with Ariel Helwani for MMA hour, Shields revealed that Amanda Nunes is the one who lit the fire under her to make a shift to MMA. Claressa Shields says, “I don’t think about doing MMA until I heard Amanda Nunes saying that she can choke the sh*t out of me.”

“Once she said that it lit a different fire in me, I was like, I had girls saying stuff about me in boxing but when it comes to Amanda Nunes, it was like not only she said but she can actually do this.”

Claressa Shields is booked to face Abigail Montes in her next fight at the finale of this season’s PFL and along with this, she will defend her boxing titles against Ema Kozin in December.

After securing a number of initial wins in her career, Shields wants to ultimately test her against Amanda Nunes once. She continued, “She said she will choke the sh*t out of me and she is never going to come in the boxing ring and she’d choke me and I was like, at the point where I’m, she is still able to choke me and that is what makes me feel good.”

“She is a big part for me in becoming a mixed martial artist, like learning it full time and becoming an MMA fighter and she is a huge part of it and I wanted to fight her in boxing but now I want to get good enough to grace the cage with her and see if she is going to choke me.”
