The scope of combat sports is not always about the clash of fists. Put the body and mind on the line long enough, and it might crave some warmth and familiarity. It’s subsequently not odd to find a fighter or two to spring the proposal of a hand in marriage after they go through a tough ordeal. That’s exactly what happened when Czech fighter Lukas Bukovaz popped the question.

Marriage proposals are a commonality in MMA. Ary ‘AstroBoy’ Farias staked his claim on the vacant bantamweight gold at Shooto Brazil 122 and proposed to his girlfriend. Ex-UFC champ Benson Henderson proposed to girlfriend after UFC on FOX 7 victory. Despite losing her bid at gold at UFC 211, Jessica Andrade proposed on the microphone; that night wasn’t all bad for her.

Lukas Bukovaz, who lost his fight at local event Clash of the Stars, thought he’d find solace the same way. He was in a 2 vs. 1 gimmicky scrap, with Jan Michalek winning against Bukovaz and Patrik Horvath. However, the fighter was up in spirits as he got on his knees to pop the question. A lot of women aren’t fans of public proposals. Even the woman in the cage, due to her suspicion that Bukovaz cheated on her.

She straight-out covered her face in embarrassment. The crowd booed and even went as far as to throw bottles. She raised her hand, explaining he cheated on her, even namedropping the other women. Bukovaz subsequently denied the claims in a backstage interview, which was posted on his Instagram. “Bukys” has over 16,000 followers on this platform. The matter went quite viral.

Lukas Bukovaz got oh-so-close to all pomp and glitters. Big oof; every fighter pops the question now and then. It’s not uncommon, given what they go through. But it’s what happened after that has the attention of the MMA clique,

Some plans hold deep value from a broader and tactile standpoint. Those that curry in big changes to how the sports works or improve optics, and so on. Concurrently, some proposals culminate in blatant way-outs, by hooks or crooks. Winning is winning, whether by a cheat code or not. In some cases, however, cheating can go beyond the bounds of acceptance. Bukovaz got his marriage proposal shot down by his girlfriend on the claims that he cheated on her!

Some have blatantly quoted that it’s never a good idea to propose live. Others quipped that the pink-haired fighter would now have extra motivation never to lose again. Maybe become a champion even…European MMA might soon get its own Sean O’Malley!

Those knowing the Czech Clash of the Stars Pay-per-view MMA/Underground lore say that Bukovaz cheated on her with an adult actress from the organization they did a collaboration shoot with. Given the fighter’s reaction afterward, it would not seem it was all for clicks. Consequently, as usual, European MMA remains undefeated in its bizarre streak of strangest moments.
