Former UFC title contender is a “little jealous” of Sean O’Malley’s smart approach in the UFC

Former UFC interim lightweight title contender, Kevin Lee has been released from the company following a two-fight skid. He recently signed with Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Eagle FC, and he has a thing or two to say about a rising UFC prospect.

Sean O’Malley has everybody’s attention, and he has been putting back-to-back sensational performances, and he is in no hurry to get a title shot. He is 15-1 on his professional career with his only loss coming against Marlon Vera, he is on a three-fight winning streak, and he breaks into the ranking with his last Knockout victory.

Lee admits that he is impressed by O’Malley’s approach, and to be really honest he’s a little envious as well. Talking to The Schmo, he said, “I’ve got to tip my hat to Sean O’Malley. He knows how to come up. He did it the right way. Honestly, I wish I would have took a couple of pages or two out of his book and had that ability to kind of pick and choose my fights and put on great performances like that. He’s doing it the right way.”

Lee has seen highs of highs and lows of lows in his career, the end of his UFC career wasn’t really pretty, and he wish he could’ve taken a book out of O’Malley’s approach as well.

“I’m not mad at him for it,” Lee said. “I’m a little jealous, I ain’t going to lie. I’m a little jealous. He doesn’t have to fight jiu-jitsu black belts and then in the next fight, fight a world-class striker, and then fight a world-champion kickboxer, and then fight a wrestler. He doesn’t have to do that so I’m a little jealous. But I tip my hat to him for doing that, though.”
