Sparring is an important part of mixed martial arts training. However, some fighters do not spar before their fights, as in the case of UFC superstar Max Holloway. On the other hand, UFC middleweight Sean Strickland constantly spars. Nonetheless, sparring is very essential in boxing. However, sparring too hard has negative consequences. Recently, a viral video went viral on social media, which showed the bloodied face of two pre-teen kids after a sparring session. The voice in the video revealed the ages of the kids to be 9 and 10, respectively.

Henry Ramirez, a boxing coach from Riverside, uploaded the video on his X. In the video, Ramirez applauded the two kids for their bloody sparring session. The fighting world immediately took notice of the video. For context, this is what he said in the video he uploaded.

9 and 10 year old little boys. Guess what? A little blood never hurt anybody. People gonna think we abusing kids over here. Good work fellas. Good work boys.

The fighting world directed the criticism to Ramirez. It was due to his appreciation for the sparring. One of the most vocal critics of the video was Chris Nowinski, a neuroscientist and former WWE superstar. Nowinski is also a vocal critic of Dana White‘s slap-fighting promotion, Power Slap.

UFC fighters like Conor McGregor have trained their pre-teen kids in boxing. However, it was mainly pad work and not sparring. Floyd Mayweather‘s grandson has also done some boxing training but not sparring.

Fighting world reacts to the brutal sparring session of 10-year-old kids

The video post of Henry Ramirez that shows the after-effects of the sparring session between his two students went viral on social media. Fighting World panned the coach for his way of teaching boxing to pre-teen kids. The fighting world directed severe criticism at Ramize mainly due to the fear for the kids’ safety.

In addition to the coach and the gym, fight fans criticized the parents of the two kids as they let them train under Ramirez. Moreover, there were some, who were a very small minority, who endorsed such training even for children.
