Combat sports have interesting storylines. Even though they are not scripted, sometimes they feel otherwise. Similarly, the South American MMA scene created a surprising situation. A fighter won the fight and proceeded to make controversial statements about himself in the post-fight interview. The fighter admitted to crossing the border illegally to compete.

The fighter is Michael Estrada. He discussed his fight camp and other preparations for attaining victory. He hilariously said, “I’m very happy. A lot of sacrifice to come from Ecuador to here. They almost didn’t let me come, I’m here illegally,” (Translated by Barrele la pierna). These became confusing statements as the authorities could penalize him for criminal offenses.
