Former UFC fighter returning from training dies after being hit by bus in Rio de Janeiro
Brazilian MMA fighter Felipe Corales died after getting hit by a bus. The first responders tried their best to revive him, but they did not succeed.

Felipe Corales was a Brazilian fighter who competed in the Featherweight and Bantamweight divisions. He fought in the UFC from 2019 to 2022 with relatively low success. According to Globo Esporte, Corales died after getting into an accident in Guaratiba.
The report state that the fighter was returning from a training session on his motorcycle. He got his by bus in Guaratiba, a large neighborhood in Rio De Janeiro. The people around immediately called the first responders. They came and worked on Corales with their best efforts. Unfortunately, they could not revive Corales, who died while transported to the hospital. The fighter died at the age of 29.
The news comes as a shock to the Brazilian MMA community. Corales started fighting for Ares Fighting Championship after leaving the UFC. The report was also tragic for them, who confirmed on social media the tragic status of their fighter. Many MMA fighters have had motorcycle accidents that lead to massive injuries. However, it is a rare instance where the fighter dies due to an accident.
Felipe Corales was a skilled competitor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and previously made headlines for stopping an attempted robbery. He also worked as an official for a government program that teaches women self-defense. The program is called Empoderadas. Corales leaves behind a wife and a 10-month kid.

The Brazilian Bantamweight recorded an 11-4 MMA record until his death. The fighter began his professional career after a string of victories in amateur fights. He competed in the North Extreme Cagefighting in 2013.
After amassing an 8-0 record, Corales signed with the UFC in 2017. He struggled to make an impact in the UFC. He had a 2-4 record inside the octagon. His notable wins came against Domingo Pilarte in 2019 and Luke Sanders at UFC on ESPN 23. Corales lost to the infamous Chase Hooper in 2022 and left the UFC.
In 2023, he signed with Ares Fighting Championship. He took on Alioune Nahaye for his promotional debut. He won the fight via submission in the first round.
