Recently, Walt Disney released the official trailer of ‘The Little Mermaid’ in which the mermaid character is being played by a black actor. This has created a lot of controversy and people are having mixed reactions about it.

Many critics accused Disney of forcing culture appropriation in order to promote the woke propaganda. Tristan Tate also took to Twitter and shared his opinions around the topic.

He wrote: “Just because a character is fictional doesn’t mean they don’t have a racial identity. Mermaids can be black but Ariel the mermaid is white with red hair. Secret agents can be Chinese or Brazillian but James Bond is white.

Sad to see you’re happy with blackwashed ex-white characters when instead you should be insisting on new and original ones.”

According to Tate, certain characters who were historically showcased as being of white ethnicity, shouldn’t be changed now in order to promote racial diversity.
