“Toughest tournament in all of MMA”- Henry Cejudo sings praises of Bellator’s 135 pounds division

Henry Cejudo
Henry Cejudo retired from the sport of MMA at UFC 249. Ever since he’s been itching to make a comeback. He is noticeably seen calling out fighters across the board. From the former flyweight champion, Brandon Moreno to former lightweight champion, Conor McGregor. However, he is most keen to fight Featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski.
But it appears as though that scenario was unlikely to happen, according to UFC president Dana White. When asked about a potential title fight at featherweight, White responded, “This guy’s retired. He’s been off for how many years now? And he wants to come in and fight Volkanovski? You know what I mean? You’ve got guys like the Zombie, Josh Emmett, Giga who’s fighting this weekend. You’ve got these guys who are in here doing it three times a year and working their way up.”

Scott Cooker, in an interview with the Schmo, said that Bellator would have signed Henry Cejudo if he was a free agent, he stated, “Listen, if Henry was a free agent because we can’t talk hypotheticals about people that are under contract. But let’s say there was a fighter, who with that type of wrestling, you know the gold medals and he was that good of an MMA fighter. If he was a free agent and he was able to come over here, we would sign him in a second and we’d put him right to the test”

Cejudo seems a fan of Bellator as he pays close attention to its status quo of it. After completing a pair of Grand Prix tournaments and nearly a third, Bellator MMA is set to kick off. With a $1 million prize up for grabs for the winner, the promotion begins this latest incarnation in the bantamweight division.
Henry took to Twitter and stated “has the toughest tournament in all of mma at 135lbs. The winner of that tournament has all bragging rights. Love what you guys are doing”
Cooker reacted and showed his gratitude for the same. He responded “Thanks Champ”
