“It’s Costco sushi” – Joe Rogan and Iliza Shlesinger discuss The Rock’s insane cheat meals
Joe Rogan and Iliza Shlesinger (L-R), discuss the Rock's cheat meals
Dwayne Johnson, or the Rock, is famous for a lot of the things that he does, his famous cheat meals being one of them.
When the Rock rose to popularity in Hollywood, he started appearing in just about every big action film there is. From Skyscraper to Jungle Cruise, to Rampage, and obviously, the Fast and the Furious franchise, he has been part of a lot of big flicks.
As the lead actor for action-oriented movies, it is imperative he maintains his peak physique – which entails a ton of gruelling exercise, and equally challenging diet planning. However, in a bid to showcase to the world that it is only fair to allow oneself to take a break once in a while, he started sharing snaps of his cheat meals. These include pancakes, burgers, waffles, sushi, pasta, bagels and the like.
However, comedian Iliza Shlesinger recently spoke out against what she perceived as a sense of “performative” behaviour by the Rock. Speaking to Joe Rogan, on his podcast, she said, “His cheat day meals really bother me. They’re insane, but they’re not really indulgent. They don’t look like real pancakes, it’s like protein, coconut… Turkey bacon, it’s never the full indulgence.”
Interestingly, she had a very specific quip about the Rock’s preference in sushi – she exclaimed, “It’s Costco sushi… Dwayne, you have millions of dollars, like you can afford the best sushi!”

Joe Rogan shut down Iliza Shlesinger’s rant about the Rock’s cheat meals
While Shlesinger went on ranting about the nature of the Rock’s cheat meals, Joe Rogan was quick to shut her down about it.
Wanting to have no truck with her opinion, he said, “It’s in your head, you need to let it go.” Speaking about her comment on the not so savoury looking pancakes, he said, “I don’t think so, it looks like regular pancakes.”
Despite what can be perceived as hostility, Joe Rogan and Iliza Shlesinger kept the tone of the conversation quite light and humorous – there was no tone of animosity in disagreement.
However, if Shlesinger does decide to delve deeper into her scepticism about the Rock’s cheat meals, we know one person who would side with her. Nate Diaz, recently, publicly trolled the Rock’s shoe that is part of UFC Fight gear. Surely, he could take this up more seriously!
