They also discussed the training adjustments required for bare-knuckle MMA and analyzed a potential matchup against Francis Ngannou.
Campbell asked about the secret to the tremendous shape of the former UFC heavyweight champion. dos Santos smiled at Campbell’s question. He replied, “Yeah I’m feeling great. Actually, you know what I’m putting a great work, and right now we are not going through USADA. It’s been great because we can like, I can take my pre-workouts, I can take my supplements that I couldn’t take before. You know, I’m feeling great, I’m eating good.” The shift to bare-knuckle MMA and its impact on dos Santos’ training regimen remained a focal point in the interview.

After facing a challenging period in the UFC, former heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos exited the promotion in 2020. Following a short stint with Eagle FC, JDS is now gearing up for a comeback on September 2nd.
In a rematch that revisits their 2008 clash, dos Santos and his fellow Brazilian and former UFC titleholder, Fabricio Werdum, are slated to go head-to-head. However, the rematch will happen in bare-knuckle rules. Jorge Masvidal’s Gamebred Promotions will present the upcoming bout. The platform consistently attracts former UFC contenders to its fight events.
For dos Santos, this fight marks an opportunity to compete outside the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) purview. USADA is the entity responsible for drug testing in the UFC. Without USADA regulations, dos Santos’ knocking out Werdum again is very high.
