Michael Page went against Logan Storley at Bellator 281 for the interim Welterweight title on May 13th, hoping he will become the new interim welterweight champion in Bellator. However, the fight ended with a controversial decision and has created a debate among fans across the world.
Michael Page has been one of the best fighters in the Bellator and has been fighting in Bellator since 2013. His fight against Logan Storley was the main event at Bellator 281, and everyone expected the fight to be an explosive bout. However, the fight was not as thrilling as expected by the fans and even Michael Page agrees with that.
Page went into his first title fight in his MMA career after winning a close split decision call against three-time welterweight champion Douglas Lima in October 2021. Page and Storley fought for 25 minutes and Storley used his wrestling for the duration of five rounds to win a split decision over Michael Page. The judges scored the fight 48-47, 47-48, 49-46 in the favor of Logan Storley.
The crowd seemed unhappy about Logan’s victory and the win has stirred controversy in the MMA community. The London crowd booed at Logan during the official announcement and showed their displeasure about the result. Logan reacted to the boos and said: “Don’t boo me for winning. I’ll see you on the way out.”
Many thought that Page actually should’ve won the fight by decision, mainly because of Storley’s lack of damage.
“I would’ve lost”- Michael Page humbly accepts his against Logan Storley
After his controversial loss against Logan Storley, Michael Page talked about his fight at Bellator 281. Michael lost the fight via split decision and he felt logan was not fighting but surviving in the octagon. Michael claimed Logan was not engaging enough in the fight and that was the reason he lost the fight.
In his interview with MMA Hour, Michael said: “I’m being dead serious when I say I have not one bruise, not one sore, not one injury, nothing at all is lingering from that fight. I definitely don’t feel like I’ve had a five-round championship fight because he didn’t come to inflict damage. He came to survive.”
Michael even revealed he thought he was losing the fight, but he knew Logan was not doing anything, either. Michael said: “I’m going to be completely honest, based on the current rule set that is in play, I assumed I would’ve lost. After Round 4, I’m having a casual conversation in the corner, and he told me, ‘I think you’re down, you need to go for the Hail Mary, try to knock him out,’ which is why I didn’t play it as tactical. If I was more tactical like I was in Round 4, just stayed away… but that’s just not my style. I want to try and go in and win, and win big.”
Michael now has 2 professional losses in his career and has a professional record of 20 wins and 2 losses.
