Gina Carano- Ronda Rousey
It’s been nearly 6 years since former Strikeforce and former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey left the Octagon. When Rousey left the sport for good following her 2 fight skid against former bantamweight champion Holly Holm and UFC women’s featherweight champion Amanda Nunes, she left a record that stood the test of time i.e. for the most title defences in women’s UFC history, which only got broke this year by UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.
Rousey however left a number of first-hand witnesses to her exceptional submission skills that involved the likes of Bethe Correia, Cat Zingano, Miesha Tate and many more. Rousey is now invested in performing at the highest level of professional wrestling as she entertains her fans inside a WWE ring. Besides being the first female UFC Hall of Famer, Rousey made history in pro-wrestling as well by being the first of the 3 ladies to headline a Wrestlemania event.

In an interview with WWE Hall of Famer and Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling Kurt Angle on his show, Rousey talked about if returning to the Octagon for the love of MMA is ever a possibility and who that person to lure her would be to get her into wearing the 4 oz gloves back.
“There’s only one person I would come back for. I’ve said it a million times, it’s not something new, but for Gina Carano… It’s a respect thing, not like a ‘f**k you. I’m coming to get you.’ It’s just like ‘Hey, if you ever wanna pull that card out, it’s there.’ I love her. Thank you, Gina, for everything you’ve done,” said Rousey.
Safe to say that while Rousey was the first female UFC megastar, Gina Carano was the first female megastar of MMA. After her retirement from MMA, Carano went on to have a great career as a Hollywood actress. How would you like that super fight between 2 pioneers of MMA to happen? Rousey retired in 2016 but Carano retired from MMA way back in 2009. Do you think Carano would entertain the idea of fighting Rousey?
