Sean O’Malley has been steadily acquiring a lot of fame and reputation through his exploits in the UFC. Many people have been calling him the next Conor McGregor because of his flashy style and nonchalant personality. Furthermore, in his last fight against Aljamain Sterling, O’Malley was able to secure a swift KO the way McGregor did against Jose Aldo.

In addition, O’Malley has an Irish heritage and aspires to reach the same heights that McGregor once did in the combat sports world. Subsequently, the former has expressed his interest in a crossover bout between the MMA and boxing worlds. Sean O’Malley recognizes the lucrative potential such a bout will have in terms of the pay-per-views that it can sell.

Taking inspiration from McGregor yet again, O’Malley targeted the current face of boxing, Gervonta Davis. However, Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney expressed their distaste for the O’Malley challenge and offered to fight and humble him. In an interview with The MMA Hour, O’Malley boldly stated that he could take down everyone in a fight.

Furthermore, the 29-year-old was talking about his beef with the professional boxers and how they trash talk on social media. However, according to O’Malley, they cannot trash talk in real life because they would pose no threat to him.

In addition, O’Malley stated that the UFC will pursue the fight if the matchup is lucrative. Hence, unless the 29-year-old faces a boxing star, a cross-over bout will not happen in the future.

Marlon Vera interrupts Sean O’Malley’s interview

UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley is set to face his former opponent, Marlon Vera. Furthermore, the fight is expected to be the main event of UFC 299 in March 2024. The fight will be an exciting rematch since O’Malley has suffered only one loss in his career against Vera.

The announcement was made by UFC CEO Dana White, along with two other major events set for the first half of 2024. Subsequently, during an interview with The MMA Hour, O’Malley was unexpectedly interrupted by Marlon Vera, who was constantly calling the interviewer. The 29-year-old encouraged the interviewer to pick up the video call, and the two rivals exchanged verbal shots at each other.

However, ironically, Marlon Vera appeared to be unaware of the official announcement made by Dana White regarding their main event fight. Subsequently, Vera seemed happy about the fight but was more focused on trash-talking with his rival.
