MMA is the fastest-growing sport in the world. Due to its popularity, there is a rise in gimmicky MMA fights. One such fight went viral on social media lately. The fight brought back memories from the iconic Jean Claude Van Damme starred movie Bloodsport. The movie was about an underground martial arts tournament, and the fight in the viral video had a similar setting. It is one of the best martial arts movies ever.

In the video, the fight was between Emilio Montesclaros and Sergio Hidalgo for the promotion Dogfight Wild Tournament. It is a Spanish promotion that has even conducted h*ndicap matches. Nonetheless, the fight between Montesclaros and Hidalgo was the first semifinal of Torneo Contacto Sangriento. The name of the event was DWT 2nd Impact. Montesclaros easily won the fight as he knocked out Hidalgo with a knee seconds into the fight. Interestingly, Montesclaros wore Muay Thai shorts for the fight whereas Hidalgo wore a wrestling singlet.

Like in the movie Bloodsport, the fighters competed on a skateboard ramp. There were no cage-like structures like normal MMA matches. Nonetheless, the fight between Montesclaros and Hidalgo lasted just 6 seconds. In addition to the knee that knocked out Hidalgo, Montesclaros had landed a leg kick before. It was the only significant blow of the fight. As Hidalgo was shorter and had a shorter range, his punches did not reach Montesclaros.

After the knockout blow, Hidalgo lost consciousness, and the referee and medical team tried to resuscitate him. On the other hand, Montesclaros looked very distressed after the knockout. He fell on his knees and showed dissatisfaction.

Fight fans react to Spanish MMA promotions recreation of the Bloodsport tournament

The fight between Emilio Montesclaros and Sergio Hidalgo at DWT 2nd impact did not go unnoticed by MMA fans. The clip of the fight went viral on social media. It was mainly due to the striking resemblance of the fight setting to that of the iconic movie Bloodsport.

Both Montesclaros and Hidalgo have inferior MMA records before the fight. Montesclaros was 1-2 in MMA whereas HIdalgi was 2-5. Moreover, both had competed at The Way of Warrior FC, a Madrid-based MMA promotion.
