Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira have had a storied rivalry in combat sports. The duo fought twice in Glory Kickboxing, where Periera won twice, first via decision and second via brutal knockout. However, they are 1-1 in the UFC, where the pair split a KO/TKO victory.
Recently, a street fight video went viral on social media. The fight was reminiscent of Adesanya and Pereira’s main event title fight at UFC 287 in Miami, Florida. Adesanya won the fight at UFC 287 via knockout in the second round of their five-round bout. As the fight progressed, it looked like Pereira hurt Adesany and was about to bag a finish.
A similar case was the one in the street fight video. In the video, a man who wore a cap fought a man who wore a hoodie. The man with the cap trapped the other man against the wall of a building and began to pour shots at his opponent. It was similar to Pereira’s shots against Adesanya against the cage. However, the man in the hoodie cunningly landed a right-hand punch that knocked his opponent out cold.
Adesanyd did a similar knockout maneuver against Pereira at UFC 287. Moreover, the way the man in the hoodie fell unconscious was similar to the way Pereria fell. Furthermore, Adesanya landed a follow-up shot after the knockout. However, the man in the hoodie landed several follow-up shots before another man came to stop the fight.

The street fight reminiscent of the main event of UFC 287 went viral on social media. As expected, the reason for the popularity of the video was the striking resemblance to the finishing sequence of the fight. Moreover, in a matter of hours, the video already garnered close to a quarter million views on social media platform X.

After the fight at UFC 287, Israel Adesanya lost the middleweight title to Sean Strickland and has not fought since. On the other hand, Alex Pereira rebounded with a unanimous decision victory over Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291. Moreover, he went on to claim the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 295. Furthermore, he will headline UFC 300 against Jamahal Hill in his upcoming bout.
