A recent video of an MMA fighter and a regular person sparring in public made rounds on social media. The video serves as an important reminder not to engage in combat activities with trained athletes. X handle, Fighthaven uploaded the video with the caption, “When Throwing Hands with an MMA Fighter goes terribly wrong…”
In the video, the MMA fighters brutally beat the regular person. The regular person was seen getting knocked down twice. Once with a right hook, and then with a lead right hook, and then with a brutal straight right hand. Furthermore, the MMA fighter kicked the regular person in the leg twice, One inside and the second outside the leg. The brutal leg kick even forced a comment on the post. An X user commented, “I’d start apologizing after the first inside leg kick.”
The popularity of MMA, especially the UFC, is one of the main reasons for street brawling. Moreover, Dana White and the professional athletes vehemently oppose unsanctioned combat. Interestingly, many professional athletes have engaged in brawls outside the octagon. Notably, examples are BJ Penn and Conor McGregor. The public and the promotion deemed both fighters’ actions as wrong.
It needs to be noted that BJ Penn was at the wrong end of the brawl whilst McGregor knocked out an older person. Furthermore, McGregor knocked out the mascot for the Miami Heat at the NBA Finals. Nevertheless, street fighting is a crime and should not be encouraged. McGregor has faced legal repercussions for his actions.

The video of the fight between a regular person and a trained athlete took the internet by storm. People from all sections of the community came forward to comment about it. Many found it as a joke whilst some others found it as something necessary. Some even praised the MMA fighter for executing a perfect technique. Some others even gave praise to the regular person for bravery.

The combinations used by the MMA fighter in the video are reminiscent of Conor McGregor and Ian Garry. However, the opponent does not possess the same caliber of skill, and categorizing the use of brutal techniques on an unskilled fighter as an effective use of martial arts is questionable. Furthermore, it is important to vigilantly observe how premier MMA promotions react to these types of videos.
