Renowned MMA journalist Ariel Helwani now has the reason to raise his head a little higher in pride when a famous Olympic champion cherishes listening to him on his special THE MMA HOUR in the times of her critical stage. Helwani, who is known to be around the sport of MMA since the late 2000s, has been responsible for the growth of the fastest rising sport in the world and is often called out as the “Howard Cosell of MMA.”
Helwani has been winning World MMA’s “Journalist of the Year” award since 2010. Currently working in his second tenure at MMA Fighting- SBN, Helwani has also worked with premier sports media outlets like FOX Sports, BT Sports and ESPN. However, beyond MMA, Helwani has really expanded his lens of research and started practising his journalism in professional wrestling and boxing as well. Helwani was recently the host of many pre-fight segments for the first-ever women’s boxing headliner in Madison Square Garden.
Ariel Helwani grabbed legendary gymnast Dominique Moceanu’s attention for killing time for good
Dominique Helena Moceanu is a retired American gymnast. She was a member of the gold-medal-winning United States women’s gymnastics team (the “Magnificent Seven”) at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. She was the all-around silver medalist at the 1992 Junior Pan American Games and the 1994 junior national champion.
In 1995, at the age of 13, she became the youngest gymnast to win the senior all-around title at the U.S. National Championships. She was the youngest member of both the 1995 World Championships team and the gold-medal-winning 1996 Olympics team and was the last gymnast to compete legally in the Olympics at the age of 14.
When Helwani announced on Twitter that he is live for the latest episode of his aforementioned special THE MMA HOUR, Moceanu took no time to let Helwani know through a video that she is listening to his interviews with combat sports athletes from her hospital bed in a pregnant woman’s condition where she is waiting to get operated for the delivery of her baby.
