Desperate times call for desperate measures, and that’s exactly what led this MMA fighter to pull the pants of his opponent midfight. Poland’s KSW promotion is well known for providing some of the best spectacles in mixed martial arts.
One of the most peculiar incidents took place in 2019 at KSW 47 from the Atlas Arena in Łódź. In the main event bout, Philip De Fries and Tomasz Narkun went against each other.
KSW heavyweight champion De Fries secured a decisive win over KSW light heavyweight champion Tomasz Narkun, with the judges scoring the fight 50-44, 50-44, 50-45 in his favor. De Fries effectively maintained control over Narkun on the ground throughout the match, all while avoiding vulnerable positions that could lead to submission attempts.
During an exchange in the fight, out of frustration and with few options available on the ground, Narkun made an unconventional choice. He opted to grab De Fries’ tights, resulting in the accidental exposure of De Fries’ buttocks.
The referee intervened to caution Narkun regarding his shorts-grabbing, and De Fries responded by pulling up his pants with a good-natured smile and chuckle. The fight proceeded without any more misconduct from Narkun, who experienced his initial defeat in seven matches.
Phil de Fries calls out former UFC heavyweight Francis Ngannou for an MMA fight
Phil de Fries is confident that he is the optimal opponent for Francis Ngannou to come back to MMA. Recently, he retained his KSW heavyweight championship by securing a submission victory over Szymon Bajor in the second round at KSW 84. This triumph marked de Fries’ ninth consecutive title defense and his sixth consecutive victory via finish.
After that, the British fighter is targeting the most significant challenge in the heavyweight division: the reigning lineal champion, Francis Ngannou. In an interview with MMA Hour’s Ariel Helwani, the fighter revealed that he can outclass the majority of heavyweights globally.
The fighter proposed a cross-promotional matchup against Francis Ngannou. The fighter claimed that his efficiency in grappling could help him defeat Ngannou. de Fries also claimed that if the promotions won’t allow the fight, he will leave it and try his best to get that fight in different promotions.
