Ritu Phogat vs Stamp Fairtex
The Pride of Indian MMA Ritu Phogat was just one fight away from being the first Indian woman to win an MMA Grand Prix belt. The “Indian Tigress” fell short to Thailand’s Stamp Fairtex at ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix.
Indian wrestling champion, Ritu Phogat was coming off a stunning win against China’s Meng Bo to make it to the Atomweight World Grand Prix Final. Ritu took on the amazing Stamp Fairtex in a stunning fight at ONE: WINTER WARRIORS. If Ritu had won the fight against Stamp she would have been the proud owner of the grand silver belt.
While both the fighters managed to look dangerous in the first round, Ritu had the edge over Stamp with her takedowns. The Indian Tigress even managed to put the fighter from Thailand on her back in the middle of the first round. However, things didn’t go Ritu’s way in the second round as she got finished via an armbar.

Stamp Fairtex will face Angela Lee after finishing Ritu Phogat
It was a shock to see the Indian Tigress lose in such a fashion given she is excellent in her ground game. Fans and experts had Phogat winning the fight given her experience in the ground game which could dismantle Stamp. But the Thai fighter proved them wrong by winning the fight in stunning fashion.
The winner of this fight is set to take on atomweight queen Angela Lee in a World Title Challenger bout. Fans came at Ritu for being one-dimensional in her approach to the bout against Fairtex. Apart from the final submission, Ritu was also close to getting submitted via a triangle which will be asking a lot of questions about Phogat’s training camp.
However, this bout would be a sign of progress for the Indian Tigress and there is only going top from here. Ritu will look to overcome this defeat and move forward in the future.
