ONE Championship has one of the most impressive Muay Thai divisions in combat sports. The release of the Barbie film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling made an impact on combat sports. Tai Tuivasa walking out on the Barbie theme song went viral on social media. A ONE Championship Muay-Thai bout between Barbie and Supergirl also went viral on social media.

The bout between Supergirl and Ekaterina “Barbie” Vandaryeva had an exciting back-and-forth action from the first minute. Both female fighters poured their heart and might into the bout. The three-round fight may be the best female fight in ONE Championship history. The entire fight went viral after the release of the Barbie film.

However, the fight was controversial as it went on the judges’ scorecard. ONE Championship has had its fair share of controversial decisions. The judges scored it in favor of Supergirl, which did not sit well with the fans. Most fans believed that Ekaterina did more than enough to win the bout. However, she lost the bout due to controversial judging.

The YouTube comments claimed the decision was a robbery. Commenters praised the efforts of the fighters but disagreed with the decision. Barbie captured the attention of the fans. Muay Thai fights in the ONE Championship remain the most exciting product the Asian combat sports organization has to offer.

Who is the Barbie fighter – Ekaterina Vandaryeva?

Ekaterina Vandaryeva is a Belarusian fighter who competes in kickboxing and Muay Thai bouts. Standing at 170 cm, she competes in the featherweight division. Barbie fought in the orthodox stance and went to the Belarusian State University of Physical Training. From childhood, she participated in volleyball, athletics, and martial arts.

Barbie began her fighting career in 2007 under world-champion coaches like Andrei Kulebin and Andrei Kotsur. She fought in 70 kickboxing and amassed a record of 58 wins and 11 losses. Barbie has a victory over former UFC champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in her career.

ONE Championship signed her in 2019. However, she was out of her prime by then. She lost to fighters like Janet Todd and Jackie Buntan. She controversially lost against Supergirl on January 2022. The rematch with Supergirl could happen in the future.
