IPL 2021: WATCH – Moeen Ali stuns Shikhar Dhawan with a huge beamer
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were defeated by Delhi Capitals (DC) today as even a target of 189 did not prove to be enough against the marauding DC openers. CSK had reached the score of 188 thanks to three excellent knocks – the first was from Moeen Ali who upped the ante when the side was under pressure after the openers’ early wickets. It was then Suresh Raina who struck a fifty before Sam Curran provided the finishing touches.
Despite the seemingly stiff target, the DC openers completely aced the chase as Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan both got scores in excess of 70. Although the duo was dismissed before either could score hundreds, they had done the damage and it was a stroll for the middle order. Thus, in spite of their strong batting performance, CSK have now have a lot to ponder over ahead of their next game.
Watch – Moeen Ali’s high full toss to Shikhar Dhawan
As Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan were going strong in the chase, Dhoni attempted to mix the bowlers up to try and pick up a wicket. He brought back Moeen Ali for a second spell in the 13th over. There was already plenty of dew and it became even more evident when the ball slipped out of Ali’s grasp and went high to the wicket-keeper MS Dhoni even as Dhawan came advancing down the track.
It was well and truly a huge beamer and a clear no-ball and there was no appeal for a stumping whatsoever by Dhoni because the no-ball was obvious. Off the free hit, Dhawan could not get a boundary as this time Ali bowled a fair and full delivery.
CSK face Punjab Kings in their next game on the 16th of April while DC face Rajasthan Royals on the 15th.
