Liverpool made easy work of Manchester United as Arne Slot and his players picked up their third consecutive win of the season. A brace from Luis Diaz and a goal from Mohamed Salah put daylight between the two sides as Liverpool rose to second in the Premier League table. However, following the game, star man Mohamed Salah claimed that it’s his ‘last’ year at the club and that extending his stay isn’t up to him.
Salah has entered the final year of his Liverpool contract. The Egyptian has received several offers from Saudi Pro League clubs, offering lucrative packages and contracts. Speaking to the press following the win, Salah did not hold back from claiming that the Reds are yet to approach him for a contract renewal.
It’s my last year at the club. I don’t wanna think about it. I just want to enjoy it. I say it’s my last season because no one at the club has spoken to me about the contract.
Mohamed Salah told the press
Salah shined for the Reds as he set up both of Diaz’s goals while also inflicting the final dagger in the heart in the 56th minute.
Mohamed Salah runs riot of helpless Manchester United side
The brilliance of the ‘Egyptian king’ was on display yet again as Liverpool made easy work of their rivals. In a tense encounter away from home, Slot and co. had to withstand early pressure from the home side. After an evenly matched initial twenty minutes or so, the visitors upped the ante. Liverpool opened the scoring through Luis Diaz, although the Colombian had Salah to thank for an inch-perfect cross on his weak foot.
Diaz made no mistake to head his cross into an empty net. Salah was at the heart of proceedings yet again as the No.11 whipped in a beautiful pass to Diaz with the outside of his foot. The Colombian’s first-time finish was even better as he found the bottom right corner with his shot.
The second half saw more of Liverpool domination, as Salah finally found the net. With Andre Onana well off the center, Salah’s first-time finish eluded his reach and went into the back of the net. Trent Alexander-Arnold rubbed salt into Manchester United‘s wounds at the end of the game as he held up three fingers toward the away end and blew kisses to the home fans.
