Liverpool drop points yet again as controversial decision takes headlines
Days after their embarrassing 2-0 loss to Everton, Liverpool were ready to give it their all against West Ham United. However, the hosts had other plans as Jarrod Bowen gave them the lead from a corner routine. The Reds quickly responded through Andrew Robertson at the start of the second half before Cody Gakpo forced an own goal from opposition keeper Alphonse Areola.
West Ham were not ready to back down just yet at Michail Antonio produced a wonderful header from Bowen’s cross to make it 2-2 on the night. Amidst all the ruckus, from Mohamed Salah’s argument to Harvey Elliott‘s unlucky shot ricocheting off the crossbar, a controversial moment stole all the headlines.
Areola threw the ball in front of him to resume play as referee Anthony Taylor did not whistle for a foul. The ball being in play, Gakpo ran up to snatch the same from the keeper, but to everyone’s surprise, the match official whistled to stop play! Fans opined that this was clear rigging and that PGMOL had to be held accountable for the same.
