Mohamed Salah tests positive for Covid-19 after attending brother’s wedding
Mohamed Salah had travelled to Egypt to attend his brother’s wedding. He was seen dancing with guests while not wearing his mask properly. The talismanic Liverpool winger is set to undergo a 14 day quarantine period now.
Unlucky period for Liverpool
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah attended his brother’s wedding in Egypt. It was observed there that Salah wasn’t wearing his mask properly. There was also no social distancing followed. It was more or less a matter of time before someone in the wedding was infected. For it to be Mohamed Salah is a tragic piece of news.
Liverpool will be fuming now at Mohamed Salah’s behaviour. Jurgen Klopp has been trying to minimise future injuries to his players. He has appealed to FIFA to give clubs more power to stop players from travelling in times like these. Since the time he has raised his appeal, three of his own team players have succumbed to these issues. Trent Alexander-Arnold was first to be injured with a lower leg injury while Joe Gomez followed him soon after with a patellar tendon injury. Now it is Salah with corona and he is the 14th different player to have been absent for Liverpool.
Alisson Becker, Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip, Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson, Konstantinos Tsimikas, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Sadio Mane, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Naby Keita, James Milner and now Mohamed Salah all have missed matches for Liverpool this season. They seem to not be able to catch a break as Alisson and Roberto Firmino were part of the Brazil squad where Gabriel tested positive for Covid-19.
Truly these are dark times indeed.
