Mumbai Indians (MI) played Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Maharaja Yadavindra International Cricket Stadium on 18th April and won by 9 runs. While fans were happy with the victory, as the match was a close one, a MI player was unhappy and publicly called out his captain.
Mohammad Nabi didn’t get to bowl during MI’s win against PBKS. Instead he played an important role on field, taking the catches of Ashutosh Sharma and Harpreet Brar. He also ran out Kagiso Rabada, which finalized their win.
Even with the win, he wasn’t happy and made it known through his Instagram. He uploaded a story of a fan congratulating him. The fan also commented on how “strange” Hardik Pandya’s captaincy was, referencing how Nabi didn’t bowl. The story is now deleted.
Nabi was purchased by MI during the 2024 IPL auction. He went up for his base price of ₹1.5 crore and MI were the only team to bid for the 39-year-old.
Fans criticize Mohammad Nabi’s post, calling it unprofessional
When fans saw the Instagram story, they gave mixed reactions. They called out Hardik Pandya for not utilizing the Afghani all-rounder and agreed with Nabi. On the other side, fans called out Nabi for his lack of “professionalism“.
Check out their reactions:
Mumbai Indians jumped to 7th after beating Punjab Kings. Batting first they scored a massive 192, with Suryakumar Yadav scoring his 2nd fifty since his comeback.
Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee dismissed the PBKS top order in the first three overs itself. The chase once again came down to PBKS rising stars, Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma, but the duo couldn’t complete the chase.
