Mohammed Shami said he was proud of the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised him in a speech.

Mohammaed Shami is unable to participate in the ongoing 2024 IPL due to surgery. Out of the IPL, he is currently undergoing rehabilitation at his hometown of Amroha. He was recently spotted voting at the Amroha polling station for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections on 26th April. 

In a video that has gone viral, Mohammed Shami is seen with his family and is limping to the polling booth. He spoke to the media after the voting and asked all Indians to vote. He was also proud of the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned him in a speech in Amroha.

I just want to say that every citizen has the right to cast their votes and elect the government of their choice. It is a matter of pride for me that PM Modi took my name during his speech (in Amroha) and praised me and my game.

Shami has been sidelined due to an injury to his Achilles Heel. He played the 2023 ODI World Cup despite the injury, taking painkillers, but was ultimately forced to sit out. Shami traveled to the UK for surgery and is now ruled out till September. 

Indian coach Rahul Dravid calls for the Indian democracy to move forward 

Indian Coach Rahul Dravid also made his way to vote in his hometown of Bengaluru. He voted at the voting center at Dollars Colony. He stood in the queue along with many and then spoke to the media regarding the elections.

Voting went smoothly, and the process was very easy. It is important to take our democracy forward and I request everyone to step out and vote.
Rahul Dravid said

In the same interaction he asked young voters to come out and exercise their right to vote. Dravid is currently on a break thanks to the ongoing 2024 IPL, returning to coach India in the 2024 T20 World Cup. According to reports this tournament could be his last assignment as India coach.
