Mohit Sharma created history on 24th April as he conceded 73 runs in his four overs spell against Delhi Capitals, making it the most expensive spell of the IPL. The record was earlier held by Basil Thampi, who conceded 70 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2018.

Mohit Sharma, who is one of the best death-over bowlers in the IPL, had a bad day in office. The pacer was smashed for an economy rate of 18.25. The pacer was hit for seven sixes and four boundaries in his 24 balls. Rishabh Pant took him to the cleaners, hitting him for 62 runs out of the 73 conceded.

Despite being 44/3 in the powerplay, Pant’s 88* and Axar Patel’s fifty, followed by an explosive cameo of 26* off 7 by Tristan Stubbs, took DC to 224. Gujarat Titans (GT) were close to chasing it down, but ended up losing by 4 runs.

This win puts DC in 6th place, just two points away from a top 4 spot. They’ve overtaken GT with a better net run rate. DC now will face Mumbai on 27th April at home, a team below them in the points table. GT will play the day later, facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru at home.
