Manchester United and Chelsea faced off in a high-octane clash at Old Trafford on Sunday. United were playing just their second game under interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, while Chelsea threatened to snatch all three points as they sought to continue their impressive run under Enzo Maresca.
The clash did not disappoint as both sides claimed a hard-earned point after 90 minutes. Goals from Bruno Fernandes and Moises Caicedo set the stage for a thrilling 1-1 game where either side could’ve gone home with a win. United fans in particular felt rather disappointed with the players’ finishing as both Alejandro Garnacho and Fernandes spurned chances throughout the game.
United took the lead in the 70th minute through a Bruno Fernandes penalty. Rasmus Hojlund won the penalty before the United skipper comfortably found the target from 12 yards out.

With just 20 minutes to go, £115 million worth Moises Caicedo unleashed a screamer from outside the penalty area. His brilliant volley evaded Andre Onana‘s reach and found the bottom left corner.
Cole Palmer brilliance not enough as Enzo Maresca heaps praise on players
Despite the electric form with which Cole Palmer came into the game, the Englishman was unable to find the net for the Blues. Even though Moises Caicedo bailed his side out from a frustrating defeat, Palmer made headlines for his flashy skills and moments of brilliance. United were often forced to resort to fouls and ‘dirty’ tackles to keep the 22-year-old away from goal.

Fans on social media loved it when Palmer managed to nutmeg United midfielder Manuel Ugarte in a moment of confusion in the first half. Following the game, manager Enzo Maresca spoke highly of his squad. He also made his frustration heard about how Lisandro Martinez escaped without a red card for a tackle on Palmer.

"I have one of the best squads in the Premier League, I have no doubt about this. Moi belongs to the squad. Since I arrived, the first thing I said to the club is that I was in love with the squad and this squad is very good."
