Los Angeles Dodgers’ Mookie Betts shared his real thoughts on the Game 4 fan interference incident. David Ortiz questioned him about how he felt and what had gone through his mind during the chaos.
During the discussion with the Fox analysts panel, Betts noted how much he wanted to fight back, but instead moved on to focus on the game. Betts exclaimed, “That was wild, man” but during the game, the situation seemed “irrelevant.”
The incident took place during Game 4 at Yankee Stadium when Mookie Betts tried catching a foul ball near the stands. Two Yankees fans, Austin Capobianco and John Peter, later noted that it was pre-planned for ages.
"That was like the second time in my life I've ever wanted to fight somebody."

One of the fans tried prying open the outfielder’s glove to get the ball, while the other directly came in contact with Betts. He further added that he was not sure what they were actually trying to do, but “it is what it is”.
In this whole process, Betts could have gotten hurt, or even worse, he could have been forced to quit the World Series due to injury. Capobianco noted that while catching foul balls was their intention, it was not right for them to directly hold his hand like what his friend did.
Yankees fans banned from MLB after interference with Mookie Betts
Despite interference with Mookie Betts in Game 4, Austin Capobianco and John Peter, the Yankees fan duo was excited for Game 5. They were apparently allowed to enter the stadium regardless of the chaos.
However, the MLB later asked the NY Yankees to ban them from a Game 5 appearance. During an interview with Barstool Sports on Wednesday night, Capobianco opened up about the incident and revealed their plan.

Instead of being self-aware for being famous instantly, the fans had a blast and a good laugh on Game 4 night. They said they’d do anything to help the team.
However, Capobianco acknowledged that what his friend did “crossed the line” as he held Betts’ hands. Later in a statement the team denounced their actions and banned them from game 5. To make the best out of the situation, the Yankees fans later gave their Game 5 tickets to a pediatric cancer patient and his family.
