On Saturday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers took a commanding 2-0 World Series lead following a 4-2 victory against the New York Yankees. Following this win, an overjoyed Mookie Betts interrupted the MLB on Fox postgame show and hilariously trolled Derek Jeter.

Jeter, alongside his former teammates Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz, and Kevin Burkhardt interviewed Betts’ teammate Freddie Freeman. As the hosts discussed Freeman’s performance in Game 1, Betts showed up and shared a hug with Ortiz.

Betts would later march up to Jeter and claim that while Jeter may not like them (Dodgers) right now, he still loves him and patted him on the back. This brought out laughs from the entire crew, including Jeter as well.

I know you don’t like us right now, but I love you too.

Mookie Betts said to Derek Jeter.

With Jeter spending his entire career with the Yankees and serving as their captain, Betts perhaps thought he would be frustrated by the results of these two games. Following the Game 1 loss, Jeter seemed confused about Aaron Boone‘s decision to remove Gerrit Cole from the game after 88 pitches.

With two victories from two home games, the Los Angeles Dodgers find themselves in a strong position. They will now travel to New York to take on the Yankees on their turf. During one of the postgame interviews, Mookie Betts spoke about this and the mindset of his teammates.

The Yankee Stadium in the Bronx has always been a tough place for visiting teams in the past. The Dodgers, who now go in there with a 2-0 lead, know that the series is far from done.

I mean, it’s the same game. We can’t we can’t make it more than what it’s already gonna be. I mean, it’s gonna be a lot going in there. We know Yankee Stadium is gonna be rocking and they’re gonna be come out ready to go. They’re gonna they have to you know, and so we have to as well. We still have some work to take care of so we’ll be ready to go.

Mookie Betts said while speaking with Hazel Mae of Sportsnet.

The stats are currently in favor of the Dodgers. Around 84 percent of teams who have won the first two games of the World Series have gone on to win the title. In 1963, the Dodgers swept the Yankees 4-0. 61 years later, history could repeat itself in 2024 if the Yankees cannot bounce back.
