Los Angeles Dodgers have won the 2024 World Series! After the Game 4 loss to the New York Yankees, the team struck back in Game 5 to win by a 7-6 scoreline. Although the pinstripes were leading the game 5-0, a costly mistake overturned the situation in the Dodgers’ favor.
Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler came in clutch during the 10th inning. He struck out the rest of the Yankees batter before pumping his fists and running to join his teammates in celebration.
Following the nerve-wracking Game 5 win, Mookie Betts declared “We’re coming LA”, noting the parade that’ll take place in the city. It’s his third Championship ring, after winning the World Series with the Boston Red Sox in 2018 and then again in 2020 with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
We’re obviously resilient, but there’s so much love in the clubhouse that won this game today,” Betts said. “That’s what it was. It was love, it was grit. I mean, it was just a beautiful thing. I’m just proud of us and I’m happy for us.

On the other hand, when Buehler was asked if he knew he’d be closing the game, he simply said “No.” While Buehler came out of surgery and could not participate in a number of games, he came through for the team in the final two innings.
It was Buehler’s first relief pitch since 2018. The Dodgers players and staff came rushing onto the field after the 30-year-old struck out Alex Verdugo to end the World Series. He said the win was thanks to the superstar lineup the team has and all the efforts they put in.
There’s just a lot of ways we can win baseball games,” Buehler said. “Obviously the superstars we have on our team and the discipline, it just kind of all adds up.

Freddie Freeman was voted World Series MVP after recording 12 RBIs. The LA Dodgers have won their eighth championship, this time with a star-studded lineup of Freeman, Betts, Shohei Ohtani, and all the rest.
NY Yankees’ costly mistakes boosted LA Dodgers’ World Series win
The Los Angeles Dodgers won Game 5 after overcoming a five-run deficit due to New York Yankees miscues and sacrifice flies. It’ll come to haunt them, if not now, then in the future.
This can also be a call back to Game 1 when the pinstripes handed the game to LA despite leading earlier in the innings. Aaron Boone and Aaron Judge are the two players to be heavily criticized by the fans.

While Boone could not strategize well and maintain a solid lineup, and Judge failed to come out of his slump. Yesterday’s hit made many, including David Ortiz, believe there could be hope, but it all ended with the Dodgers winning the Championship.
