“More to come” – Rohit Sharma promises more double-centuries for India
Rohit Sharma on reaching 200
Indian opener and batting ace Rohit Sharma is the only player in ODI history to score more than one double-hundred. The right-handed batsman got his first double-hundred when he scored 209* against Australia in Bangalore in 2013. He then followed it up with probably the greatest knock in ODI history when he scored 264* against Sri Lanka in Kolkata in 2014. The 33-year-old did not stop there. He went on to make a third double-hundred in Mohali in 2017 against Sri Lanka scoring 208*.
Rohit Sharma is one of just 6 cricketers to score a double-hundred with Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Chris Gayle, Martin Guptill and Fakhar Zaman being the others. Rohit is currently in India having cleared a fitness test which could see him fly to Australia for the final two Tests of the Test series after having missed the entirety of the limited-overs leg of India’s tour of Australia.
Rohit Sharma posts simple but powerful Tweet
Rohit Sharma scored his third double-century exactly three years ago and Star Sports took to Twitter to post about the same captioning a picture of Rohit, “OnThisDay in 2017: Sharmaji ka beta aced a test which would be out-of-syllabus for most people – a 3rd 200 in ODIs for Rohit ‘Hitman’ Sharma.”
Rohit Sharma replied to the Tweet saying, “More to come” with a smiley. If more double-hundreds do come from the blade of the ‘Hitman’, Indian fans are in for a treat.
