Most feared GM? Howie Roseman’s calls won’t be answered on Draft Day by anonymous NFL GM
Philadelphia Eagles Howie Roseman is considered to be one of the best general managers in football, and to stop him from gaining any leverage in the 2025 draft, other GMs have banded together.

Howie Roseman’s track record as the Philadelphia Eagles’ general manager is impeccable. He works throughout the year, but the draft is when Roseman truly comes alive, like Houdini charming everyone with his magic.
Roseman plays chess while others indulge in checkers during D-Day. He has a habit of making trades. Eagles fans and analysts alike are waiting to see what surprises he will pull.
The wheel has already been set in motion. NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah recently revealed that the Eagles are a trade or two in the first round.
I think [Howie Roseman would] move up [the draft]. There are so many people that want to get out in this draft that are trading back. What has Howie done in his entire career? He’s zigged when everyone else has zagged.

The other NFL organizations are aware of it and have hatched a plan to stop the Eagles from gaining trade leverage in the draft. While appearing on the Kincade & Salciunas show on 95.7 The Fanatic (a Philadelphia-based radio/YouTube channel), ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed some intriguing news about the trade situation.
[The GMs] are mindful of his track record because I did have one GM say to me this week, and this guy was talking about moving up, moving back, and Philly came up, and the guy jokes to me, ‘Yeah, we’re blocking all calls from the 215-area code into our facility.

Howie Roseman’s draft day track record as the Eagles’ general manager
The other NFL GMs may be on to something here. Roseman always pulls off some of the trickiest trades that favor the Eagles in the long run.

In recent memory, Roseman traded a 2023 first-round pick (No. 10 overall) and a 2024 fourth-round pick to the Bears for the No. 9 overall pick. The Eagles then drafted Georgia’s power edge rusher Jalen Carter.
In two seasons, Carter recorded 75 combined tackles, 20 tackles for loss, and 10.5 sacks, lifting the Lombardi Trophy in 2024. Former NFL Defensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl winner with the Los Angeles Rams, DE Aaron Donald, called Carter his second coming in the NFL.
In the same draft, Roseman traded a 2025 fourth-round pick and a 2023 seventh-round pick (No. 219 overall) to the Detroit Lions for running back Howie Roseman. Swift was a stopgap for one year.
Meanwhile, the Giants ended their relationship with Saquon Barkley, and Roseman didn’t waste the chance to sign the Pro Bowler. Barkley ended up breaking every single Eagles rushing yards record en route to the franchise’s second-ever Super Bowl win.
2021 was another year in which Roseman showed his shrewd business tactics. He traded quarterback Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts in return for a 2022 first-round pick (No. 16 overall) and a 2021 third-round pick (No. 84 overall). Wentz’s draft served as supplemental ammo in trades for DeVonta Smith, A.J. Brown, and Kyron Johnson.
