Fabio Quartararo reveals the reason behind contract renewal: “Yamaha’s engine pledge convinced me to stay”
Fabio Quartararo
Fabio Quartararo has been hailed as the next Marc Marquez or Valentino Rossi and we have enough evidence to back that claim up. It wasn’t the best of outings for him in Moto2 or Moto3 but he has taken his game to another level ever since his jump to MotoGP. The Frenchman stoked a flawless season to secure his first ever MotoGP world championship and looks set to defend his title.
But, the lack of top speed has been a cause of concern for the defending champion. This problem potentially did cost him the win at Mugello. After passing Bezzecchi, we thought that a race victory might have been on the cards but his inferior top speed on the long straights forced him to fend off any sort of attack from the chasing pack rather than launching an attack on Fransesco Bagnaia.
We all know that Yamaha has been struggling with their engine and that even casted doubts on his contract renewal. It was speculated that Fabio Quartararo’s manager was also in touch with other teams as there was growing concern in his camp about Yamaha being unable to provide the reigning world champion with a competitive bike.

Fabio Quartararo said that Yamaha’s pledge to better the bike convinced him to stay
But, all the speculations have been shut down once and for all. Following the contract renewal, Fabio has revealed the reason behind him doing that. He said, “It was not an easy decision. And we took a little bit more time to evaluate all the project.”
“Basically, my first goal is to have the best bike and best project. And they convinced me [to stay] because they will bring new people, engineers, and they know exactly where they need to improve.”
“So that’s what made me really take the decision to stay in Yamaha; I know that they’re pushing to bring more power and I feel good on the bike,” as reported by crash.
Fabio Quartararo’s renewal has to be the highlight of the season for Yamaha keeping in mind their struggles. But, the ball is their court now to provide him with a competitive bike for him to be able to express himself and bring back the glory days for Yamaha.
