“He makes me remember Casey Stoner at Ducati,” Jorge Lorenzo lauds Fabio Quartararo’s recent robotic dominance in MotoGP

Fabio Quartararo and Jorge Lorenzo

Fabio Quartararo is the one to beat as he continues to dominate MotoGP like very few have been able to do. The reigning world champion has been in a league of his own and has gone to demolish everyone coming in his wake. Enea Bastianini and Francesco Bagnaia were considered to be his closest rivals but both trail him by 72 and 91 points respectively and we are not even halfway through this season. Let’s take a moment to fathom that fact.

The Frenchman’s most recent victory came in Sachsenring helping him to further extend his lead in the championship in his quest to defend his maiden title. Ducati is considered the better bike this season but Fabio’s innate ability on the race track has helped Yamaha to cover up their tracks and more. We expected the Yamaha to get beat in a straight line drag in Germany but Quartararo was having none of it.

Francesco Bagnaia started from pole and was expected to give a stiff competition but Fabio got his elbows out and drove into oblivion. Jorge Lorenzo, after seeing the Frenchman’s recent dominant performance, has given him the biggest compliment by comparing him to the likes of Casey Stoner and Marc Marquez. Both of them during their time at Ducati and Honda respectively showed the same level of dominance.

Yamaha Superstar, Jorge Lorenzo, recently showed his admiration for this upcoming legend. The Spaniard said, “What amazes me most about Quartararo is that he is light years ahead of the other Yamahas. In the last twenty years, as far as I can remember, Yamaha has not been in a worse position in terms of the competitiveness of their bike, apart from Quartararo.”

The others are in the last positions, but he manages to win races and lead the World Championship.

It reminds me a little bit of when Stoner was winning on the Ducati and the other Ducati riders were far behind or Marquez on the Honda.”

Fabio Quartararo is definitely has the skillset and the potential to be up there with the very best in the business but he’ll have to consistent to be spoken in the same breath as Casey Stoner and Marc Marquez.
