“I wasn’t feeling great with the bike,” Fabio Quartararo claims Yamaha’s upgrade disturbed him throughout the weekend
Fabio Quartararo
Fabio Quartararo has had to pull off something special every race for him to be able to register a decent result. There has been a lot of resistance shown by Ducati and very little assistance given to him by Yamaha in terms of providing him with a fast bike. We saw in Italy what we have been used to seeing from Yamaha throughout the year.
The superiority of the Ducati has been there for everyone to see. Carlos Pernat had predicted that Mugello will pose a threat to Yamaha keeping in mind the layout of the track. It’ll be unfair to say that it was bad weekend for Fabio Quartararo but it’ll be fair for us to say that the race win eluded him because of the inferiority of the Yamaha M1 on the straights as compared to the Ducatis on the grid.
Fransesco Bagnaia went on to secure his second win of the season at his home Grand Prix. But things could have been different. Fabio Quartararo was able to get past Bezzecchi with 12 laps to go in the race. We expected him to launch a charge on Fransesco Bagnaia but his lack of top speed meant that he susceptible to a retaliation from the riders behind him.
Fabio Quartararo unhappy with the new upgrades as he fails to win the race due to the lack of top speed
This didn’t allow him to focus winning the race. In his post race interview, talking about Yamaha’s upgrades, he said, “It was tough as I wasn’t feeling great with the bike this weekend. The new fairing disturbed us all weekend. We thought that such a small difference with a fairing would not be a problem but we decided to go back to our standard bike.”
“We lost a little bit of top speed [because of it], but when you have slipstream in front of you then it’s not so bad.“
“It’s also good when you receive an update early in the season, even though I was expecting an update with more top speed,” as reported by crash.
Fabio Quartararo has produced magic on the track keeping in mind how bad Yamaha has been with the development of the bike. It’s about time they help Fabio out before they lose hold of their superstar next season.
