“I would say it’s a 50/50 track for us,” Fabio Quartararo unsure due to Yamaha’s inferiority on the straights

“I would say it’s a 50/50 track for us,” Fabio Quartararo unsure due to Yamaha’s inferiority on the straights

Fabio Quartararo

Fabio Quartararo has been able to do for Yamaha what Marc Marquez has done for Honda for the last 6 odd years. The Frenchman has been successfully able to cover up Yamaha’s slip ups in the development of the bike. While the likes of Andrea Dovizioso, Darryn Binder and Franco Morbidelli have struggled to fire up that Yamaha M1, Fabio Quartararo has gone about his business and taken the lead of the championship.

The reigning world champion has definitely been let down by his team which has made his work so much more difficult. But, that hasn’t affected his performances as he already has registered 1 win and 3 podiums in the first 7 races of the season. But Yamaha’s inferiority on the longer straights has given rise to speculations of him leaving the team while Yamaha sound confident to sign it.

We all are well aware of how slow Yamaha has been from the days of Valentino Rossi on the straights due to which the riders have always had to do so much more on the slower corners. The story hasn’t much since then or the right way to put it is that it has become worse. Therefore, it would be extra difficult for Fabio Quartararo on the long straights of Mugello with that 12km/h difference in top speed to other teams.

But, still Fabio Quartararo sounds quietly confident and he expressed that in one of the interviews. He said, “We know that all the factories have improved a lot but I think we are strong in sectors one and three, our bike is very strong there.

“It’s hard to say what would be a good result here. It’s not a bad lead for us.”

If we get a good start and a good first lap that could change the race straight away. We’ll see how it goes, but I’d say the two races ahead will be tough,” as reported by motorcyclesports.

The next couple of races pose a lot of challenges to Yamaha especially with their inferior top speed. Therefore, it’ll be interesting to see how Fabio Quartararo goes about his business.
