“I’d be spitting tacks if I was Fabio Quartararo,” Keith Huewen following reigning world champion’s struggles with non competitive Yamaha

Fabio Quartararo
Fabio Quartararo must have not expected this year to pan out in the manner it has. The Frenchman is coming at the back of a splendid year with his current employers but it hasn’t been anywhere close to what it was last year. The Yamaha M1 has definitely looked off pace, especially on the straights. Yamaha has always stood out for its superior engine but, unfortunately, it hasn’t been the case this time around.
Fabio Quartararo was rampant throughout the length of last season and registered a grand total of 278 points in the process. But it already looks like a distant memory for the reigning world champion as he has had a catastrophic start to the new season which has already given way to speculations of him negotiating with other teams at the end of the season.
The current world champion has time and again complained of the lack of pace on his brand new Yamaha. He recently confirmed that the edge that Yamaha has had over the likes of Honda and Ducati seems to slipping away because of an inferior engine. The fault seems to be with the bike and Yamaha needs to find the answers sooner rather than later if they want to keep hold of their star man.
Yamaha and Fabio Quartararo have their cut out if they want to make an impression this season

Keith Huewen has criticized for Yamaha’s development of the bike which hasn’t allowed Fabio Quartararo to fight for the title. He said’ “I’d be spitting tacks if I was Quartararo and his management. He’s riding really, really well. Everybody else’s bikes have moved on, but not the Yamaha.”
“Just look at what the other Yamaha riders are doing. Dovi will only ride really on the edge if he’s not pushing his luck on a motorcycle that’s not capable of doing what he wants.”
“So in that sense, it doesn’t matter whether he’s going to leave Yamaha or not, because he’s still in the driving seat for the remaining places,” as reported by crash.
It’s been a difficult start to the season but the Portuguese GP presents Yamaha and Fabio Quartararo to regain some form as the Frenchman looks to defend his title.
