Suzuki Motor Corporation announces its intentions to depart from MotoGP at the end of 2022: Report

Suzuki Motor Corporation
Suzuki made a return to MotoGP in the year 2015 and has been a part of the sport ever since. Now, this decision of leaving MotoGP yet again has left a lot of people in shock after the kind of season that they have had in 2022. This decision comes in the wake of the difficulties faced by the team economically due to the combination of the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. Hence, the team has had to confirm its intentions.
As far are as their performance goes on the track, both their riders have been performing decently well. Alex Rins and Joan Mir have been able to get the best out of the resources that they have had in the recent past. Alex Rins already has two podiums to his name in the first few races. While Joan Mir hasn’t been able to feature on the podium, he still features on the 6th place in the MotoGP rider’s standings.
But, sadly for both of them, they might have to look for a different manufacturer, come the end of the season. Although Suzuki is still contract bound with Dorna to keep competing in the sport till the year 2026 but it seems like Suzuki doesn’t have any other choice as their priority is to develop new technologies rather than spending their money in MotoGP. This might attract economic sanctions but it is what it is for Suzuki.

Suzuki release an official statement confirming its intention to leave MotoGP

The team released an officially statement confirming its intentions.
“Suzuki Motor Corporation is in discussions with Dorna regarding the possibility of ending its participation in MotoGP at the end of 2022.”
“Unfortunately, the current economical situation and the need to concentrate its effort on the big changes that the automotive world is facing in these years, are forcing Suzuki to shift costs and human resources to develop new technologies.”
“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our Suzuki Ecstar Team, to all those who have supported Suzuki’s motorcycle racing activities for many years and to all Suzuki fans who have given us their enthusiastic support,” as reported by motorsport.
This has left everyone in shock and what is more shocking to believe that COVID-19 is still impacting the lives of so many people and hindering the functioning of the organizations.
