“We are disappointed to see the inequality,” Lin Jarvis slams the stewards following a long lap penalty handed to Fabio Quartararo

Fabio Quartararo and Lin Jarvis
Lin Jarvis and Fabio Quartararo had a race to forget in Assen after two flawless races in Catalunya and Sachsenring. We rarely see Quartararo crash during a Grand Prix but we saw him crash not once but twice in one race. The last time suffered an accident was Portuguese GP, 2021. The Frenchman is considered to be one of the cleanest riders riding in MotoGP at this point in time.
After falling behind Francesco Bagnaia and Aleix Espargaro, we could see that Quartararo was itching to make a move on Espargaro so that he can begin to hunt Francesco Bagnaia, who is considered to be his arch rival. but, while trying to do that, it seemed like he was a little too ambitious going into Turn 5. The Frenchman lost the front and crashed into Espargaro leading to both of them finding themselves in the gravel.
This raised a lot of eyebrows and after a lot of deliberation, it was decided that Fabio Quartararo will serve a long lap penalty during the British GP. This has most certainly not gone down well with Yamaha Boss Lin Jarvis who has decided to challenge the decision of the stewards.
Lin Jarvis issues a formal statement to the stewards following Fabio Quartararo’s penalty

Lin Jarvis has issued a statement to the stewards after the penalty was handed to Fabio Quartararo. Jarvis said, “The inconsistency with which penalties are applied by the FIM MotoGP™ Stewards panel during the 2022 season damages the fairness of MotoGP and the faith in the Stewards‘ jurisdiction.“
“There have been at least three more serious race incidents in the MotoGP Class (resulting in riders retiring from the race and/or causing injuries) that were left unpunished.”
“We wanted to appeal the decision of the Stewards on Sunday at the Assen track, but this type of penalty is not open to discussion or appeal. We then wanted to raise the issue, as a matter of principle, with CAS (Court of Arbitration of Sport), but equally such a matter is not open to appeal.”
“It is precisely for these reasons that correct, balanced, and consistent decisions should be taken by the Stewards in the first place and executed within the correct, reasonable time frame.”
While Fabio Quartararo has admitted to committing a mistake during that move on Aleix Espargaro, Yamaha Boss is singing a different tune. It’ll be interesting to see how this incident pans out.
