“We are negotiating with Oliveira,”Aleix Espargaro confirms Massimo Rivola’s intention of signing the Portuguese rider
Aleix Espargaro and Massimo Rivola
Ever since renewing his contract, it’s not been the best of outings for Aleix Espargaro. The Spaniard has lost out on some really points in Catalunya after his school boy error. It was almost certain that he was going to finish on the podium behind Fabio Quartararo but he stopped racing one lap before the end thinking it was the last lap of the race. He lost a huge opportunity after the two Ducatis crashed out.
The Spaniard was also not on top of his game in Germany after losing out on yet another podium as Jack Miller pipped him for 3rd place. But the signs have been positive for Aprilia as Espargaro definitely has had the pace in him but needs to cut down the mistakes and convert that promise into results. But, the pressure is definitely off from Aleix regarding his future in MotoGP after a period of uncertainty.
Both Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro’s contracts have been renewed by Aprilia. But another rider that has been on the radar has been Miguel Oliveira. The Portuguese rider has been on top of his game with KTM as he finds himself in the championship. Aprilia wants to get his signature but they are facing competition from Gresini as transfer talks continue at full swing.

Aleix Espargaro confirmed that Massimo Rivola has been in touch with the rider. In a recent interview, he said, “Yesterday Massimo [Rivola, Aprilia Racing CEO] asked me what I thought of Oliveira, what my opinion of him was.”
“I asked him if he wasn’t going to be announced by Gresini.”
“He answered: No no no. I don’t know what is going on as far as Gresini is concerned, but I can tell you right now that we are negotiating with Oliveira,” as reported by motorcyclesports.
Miguel Oliveira will be an excellent addition to the team keeping in mind the kind of promise he has shown this year around but Aprilia has to be on its toes if they want his signature or it could go downhill pretty quickly.
