Marc Marquez has had a lot of crashes throughout his career which has even earned him the name of ‘falling star’ in the sport. But once thing that has been constant during the course of his career has been his willingness to get right back up. The Spaniard has had a total of 122 crashes in his illustrious career with 22 in the last year. He was fortunately able to walk away unscathed after his crash in Italy.
This string of major injuries started with that crash in Jerez fracturing a bone his right arm. Among other injuries, there’s one more injury that disturbed the career of Marc Marquez. That was the crash in Indonesia which triggered double vision problems casting a huge doubt on his future in MotoGP. But Marc Marquez showed us why he has been an eight time world champion.
The Spaniard fought through adversity to make a comeback to the sport he loves. But, these injuries have made it difficult for him to compete with the very best. An example of that we saw in Austin where he definitely had the pace but just didn’t have the energy to make it to the end. There was a time when he could have gone for a surgery in his right arm but his bone wasn’t ready in October.

Santi Hernandez believes that there are not a lot of riders in MotoGP with the mentality of Marc Marquez

But now he has been the green light to go ahead with the surgery. Santi Hernandez said that he has been impressed with Marc Marquez’s determination to keep racing.
He said, “People can talk about many things, but those of us who experience it from the inside know that he hasn’t been having a good time, the limitations he had and that the results he was getting were hats off, although you don’t see them as much because you don’t end up winning or on the podium.”
“Right now the most important thing for me is that he has made that decision, I think it is the most correct , and get well. We are here to continue working and evolving, to improve the bike for when he returns,” as reported by gpone.
Marc Marquez has achieved everything that is there in the sport but the man just doesn’t seem to stop. His hunger to compete with the best and win is the reason why he is an eight time world champion. Let’s hope that we can see a fitter Marc Marquez when he returns.
